Description

As a result of the recent disproportionate, collective attacks on Gaza, Islam On Campus will be hosting a highly informative event on the plight of this tiny Palestinian territory.

In addition to recent military bombardment by Israel, Gaza has also been under an international blockade for over a year and half, led by Israel and the United States. Israel has enforced the blockade so vigorously that even emergency food and medical aid from international relief agencies such as the Red Cross, and even the UN, have not been allowed in.

Ahmed Bedier, Florida-based human rights advocate and radio show host, will be speaking on the topic.

Have we heard about a child were trapped with their dead mother with few other dead body for weeks in Gaza?

In order to understand the situation in Gaza, we MUST look back at the historical facts.

History * he may skip few important dates, anyway these are among the big events.

1947- ISRAEL is not existed. During British occupied in Palestine, they promise a land to European Jewish at Palestine Land.

Jewish during that time undergo HOLLOCOST tragedy which been conducted by NAZI.

UN during that time also proposed partitions between Israel (55%) and Palestine (45%). Both parties (Palestine and Israel at that time does not agree).

Originally, Palestine land is owned by Palestinian people, Palestinian disagrees with the proposal. While Jewish do not want 55% of Palestine land. They want more than that, at the beginning.

1948- ISRAEL was born & so with Palestinian “Nakba”; catastrophe.

1967- Israel occupied 78%of Palestinian land by expansion illegal settlement & colonies on Palestinian land.

This also included Sinai & Golden Height. –

1993- Oslo Peace Agreement. (Yitzhak Rabin, Bill Clinton, and Yasser Arafat during the Oslo Accords on 13 September 1993.)

2000- Camp David Negotiations- 18% Land for Palestine; Yasser Arafat era, Clinton.

September 2000- Intifada II

2001- Arial Sharon became Prime Minister

2003- The Road Map- 11% Land for Palestine.

Palestine cannot have border with other country, besides Israel. So, Palestine Land is separate to 2 “island”. Gaza Strip and West Bank.

Palestine under seige, from early beginning

-economy, national security and other affairs are control by Israel government, including Foreign Aid, utilities; water, electricity.

-illegal settlement in Palestine land will remain there. Jews can build building on Palestine land, but Palestine MUST have a permit to build anything on their land. Huh? Even for maintenance purpose. If not, Israeli will demolish the building.

-Principe of collective Punishment; in the name of security and defenses (Israel definition), if one militant fire up from one town, the whole town should be destroy, regardless WHO and WHY they are there, even CHILDREN.

-land confiscation for illegal settlement for Jewish only; means no Arab can stay there.

-land confiscation by pass road for Jewish only; only Jewish can use Highway. There is Israel military equipped with Helicopter and heavy armed to ensure only Jewish can use it.

-Discrimination toward Israel-Palestinian people. Jobless, they don’t have same right as Israeli-Jews does.

-Home demolition on  Palestinian land.

-Check point –the apartheid wall- 436 miles long, 25 feet high on Palestine land build by Israel.

-The Ghetthos- the gates have business time:

                745-800

                1400-1425

                1645-1700

Thousand of people have to wait at the check point, they are no transportation can pass through. Each time they pass a check point, they might have to wait for transportation from friend etc. Not all of them can make it in time as the gates only open 45 minutes perday, and sometime does not open at all for weeks.

This leads to hetric, violence.

World talking about 1 Israel capture by Hamas, but none where report about Palestinian capture by Israel. Bias.

2005- Israel Unilateral Gaza “Withdraw”

-settlers forces to leave, paid USD 300K

-IDF pulls back to Gaza border- control Gaza, land, air, sea.

Israel also controls utilities, trade, borders.

2006- elections- Palestine. HAMAS won the elections. Few years before election, HAMAS stop suicide booming to show they ready to tolerate towards peace.

US- boycott HAMAS by stop all foreign aid to Palestine. However, they persuade FATAH to be on their side and formed military/ armed to FATAH; stop food/aid but at the same time formed armed?

July 2007, Gaza under control of HAMAS and West Bank is under FATAH.

GAZA?

25 miles x 7 miles

-50% are children, most dense population at that place.

July 2008- cease fire between Israel and Palestine.

November 4- Israel launched attack to Gaza strip. At the same time when world are focusing on USA Election Day.

December 19, cease fire ended.

Statistic from 12/27/2008 until 1/18/09 (may vary, because it not included people that die because of their own army bullet/ bombing).

White Phosphorus- a weapon that used at battlefield only cause smokes and prevent enemy to see what through them. Anyway, this weapon is never permitted to be used in the city. But Israel used it on Gaza city! Cause huge causality in Gaza. As I mention before, Gaza strip is only about 25 miles times 7 miles.

Not all jews support Israel. They understand when Hollocust happen to their ancestor, they said "Never again"!. This should be implemented to all nation and races and not only jews.

Winter Maple~ Welcome

"Alhamdulillah.." aku menarik nafas lega seketika melihat kepada jadual bulanan yang disusun, apa yang dicapai dan dirancang. 

Bukannya seorang yang sangat sibuk berkejar ke sana ke mari seperti beberapa tokoh yang aku segani. Tapi dalam mengejar "ke hulu ke hilir" dalam memenuhi keperluan sunnatullah. Hidup lab ini mesti diteruskan.

Semester kedua di UF. Banyak yang dipelajari dari semester pertama. Pesan Prof Abu Hassan semasa di Sains kajihayat USM dulu, 

" If you gonna study like student in USM study, you gonna fail! I witness many good people cannot proceed/ fail because they study last minutes!"

 Benar kata beliau. Tapi dalam semester pertama juga mengambil masa untuk selesa. Diketahui, orang disini workaholic, sentiasa ceria (positive attitute), datang awal , dan pulang lambat dari hari seharian mereka. Hari minggu pun datang bekerja. Malu  rasanya..

Jika 20 januari merupakan tarikh America dan dunia menarik nafas lega kerana Obama, maka tarikh sebelum itu 15 januari merupakan tarikh menarik nafas lega bagi aku untuk kali pertama tahun ini. Dalam beberapa ucapannya, Obama ada menyebut, lebih kurang~ 

"..with muslim world, we seek for mutual respect & mutual interest ...and see that we  judge you by what you build neither what you destroy.."

 

"...and we seek hope than fear"

Lihat media di Malaysia menafsirkan "hope" dan "fear" yang dikatakan obama adalah politic of hope dan politic of fear. Rasa macam kelakar pun ada. Tapi ada kebenarannya. Obama mengubah beberapa perkara dalam masa terdekat. Laman web sukarelawan diwujudkan dalam membentuk USA yang lebih maju. Rekruit2 obama.Ken Guantanamo diarahkan tutup dalam masa setahun ni. Dia mempunyai pasukan yang baik. Err.. ada banyak benda kalau nak cerita pasal Obama ni. Cuma harapkan krediabiliti dan wawasan yang ingin dibawa oleh dia di permudahkan. Bukan sahaja bermanfaat kepada rakyat USA, tetapi juga kepada Muslim juga khususnya.

Rasa sudah terurus sedikit rasanya. Tak perlu mengusung ke hulu hilir beg, dan kalut mencari soket untuk laptop yang ibarat Maple yang berada dalam musim kemarau. Aku sudah berjumpa teman baru.

Mungkin teman baru ini tidaklah sehebat teman yang sudah lama menemani aku sejak beberapa tahun yang lalu, tapi sudah cukup mem

buatkan jiwaku tenang. Tidak lagi lagha @ serabut memikirkan banyak perkara. Kini aku sudah fokus.

Kadang-kadang perkara yang dulu tidak rasa perlu tetiba menjadi keperluan. 

Selamat datang "winter maple", teman baru! Doakan aku lebih produktif!

"Salams, I got your miscalls this morning. Sorry I didn't pick up the phone. I'm the middle of something.. So, wassap bro?"

Kataku memulakan butir bicara pagi ini. Cuba memujuk hati sahabat yang meninggalkan miscalled sebanyak 3 kali dan 1 SMS.

" Salams. That's okay. We have  Islamic Cultural Fair held next Thursday, and we try to get everyone from around the world to gather around and represent about their culture, etc."

sapa sahabat tersebut spontan dengan suara penuh girang.

"Huh? That sound interesting. So there will be people coming and asked Q? Is that what u meant?"

"Exactly. Well, you know. You can present Malaysian food, cultures, information, make an information board of them."

"Nice, nice. For sure that I will be interesting. But can u give me time to think about it?"

Ujarku padanya minta masa untuk berfikir kerana ada macam ada benda yang tak kena.

"Okay, no problem. Take your time."

"See you then. Salams brother.."

PSA (Pakistani Student Association), HSA (Hispanic Student Association), dan beberapa persatuan lain dari China, Timur tengah di ramalkan akan membuka table pada hari tersebut. Tentunya meriah. Manusia dari pelbagai negara berkumpul dan berkongsi "rahsia" setiap negara.

Inilah peluang untuk bercerita tentang Malaysia dan menjawab persoalan yang bermain difikiran penduduk disini tentang Malaysia. Tapi bile teringatkan tentang makanan, kebudayaan, maklumat yang ingin dipamerkan masa 1 minggu, tiba-tiba angin sejuk menerpa dalam hati.. Rasa sunyi seketika..  

baru aku sedar kenapa..

The simple talk.

Its amazing how the ideas can be delivered by those that non fluent English on certain occasion. Last Friday, one Khatib spoke about the important of time. He's probably from Africa, but the message of his khutbah were awesome and amaze all of us. He talked about TIME

"Brother, I would like to ask on what we do about our time? Do we WASTE it? SPENDING it? or INVESTING our time? Many people including me sometimes does not realize we do wasting our time. It has been said 1 day in akhirat is equal to 1000 years in dunia.

There is one book (i can't recall it now) that says, if someone live for 60 years, half of it is fill with sleeping. Meaning, 30 years is for sleeping and 30 years is awake. In 30 years awake, half of it is used to search food, favourities and work, which meant 15 years left. This particular 15 years is the time where we really used to WASTE, SPEND or INVEST.

During al qiamah, and at Masyar, do we think our ibadah is sufficient to obtain heaven? Heaven have it own dowry/mahar, the price is depend on time we consume it right now. Time have many defination in Arabic, ;zaman, etc. If we lost our house, car, wife@husband, you can obtain new house, car, wife@ husband. No problem at all. But if you lost time. Its gone. There are no other Friday like today, even you may say next week is also Friday, but it not can replace this week. That is time.

Remember 5 things before 5 things come, like our prophet says, young before old, rich before poverty come, health before unhealth, free time before busy and life before death. I call u all my brother and myself to act because we have all 5 luxious condition right now. And beneath that, all 5 after glorious time is sure to come. Definately. Don't be cheated by ourself that we are still young, because death have overcome more younger people than us"

That's pretty much everything that he say, simple huh? But it all tru. Some friend send me a wish during my birthday, " You know, yesterday is past, tomorrow is future, now is present. You know why they call it it "present"? Its a gift from Allah. Be thankful.

GaZa PrOtEs di UF-updated

Gambar ini diambil semasa protes untuk Perang yang berlaku di Gaza. Program ni anjuran IOC (islam on campus). Mereka menentang Israel, tapi sebagai tiket untuk demo, mereka berdemo atas tiket hak asasi manusia, kerana terdapat ramai diantara penyokong Palestine bukan dari kalangan Muslim. Maka, demo bukan dibuat atas tiket Muslim

Namun, demo pada hari itu telah turut disertai oleh student Yahudi yang menyalahkan HAMAS atas apa yg terjadi. Maka terjadilah, "protes untuk protes". One groups multiple event. 3 penjuru sebenarnya. IOC, student Yahudi dan pihak neutral yang tak menyokong mana-mana pihak dan inginkan keamanan.

Tahun baru 2009 mencatatkan peristiwa ketika para pelajar kembali semula ke kampus, boleh dikatakan setiap minggu perhimpunan aman dari para pelajar dan komuniti dalam menyatakan bantahan mereka terhadap apa yang berlaku di Gaza diadakan. Malah hari ini juga (1-4pm) dan minggu hadapan 15 jan demotrasi dilakukan oleh pelbagai kumpulan /komuniti yang tidak terhad kepada Islam on Campus (IOC) semata-mata, tetapi juga melibatkan kumpulan-kumpulan lain termasuk mereka yang beragama kristian dan segelintir yahudi.

10% Pelajar di UF adalah Yahudi dan pelajar Muslim kurang dari 1%. Majoriti Yahudi akan mengadakan bantahan terhadap HAMAS pada hari Isnin ini dengan berarak dari stadium ke downtown Ganesville. Pihak IOC pula akan mengadakan protes pada hari yang sama dan juga pada hari Khamis.

Tujuan perhimpunan ini diadakan bukanlah untuk menyatakan ketidakpuashati terhadap Yahudi, tetapi terhadap tindakan Israel yang melanggar gencatan senjata dan melancarkan perang ke atas tebing Gaza.

Melihat kepada senario mereka (para pelajar UF), perkataan KONSISTEN ke arah "peace" jelas cuba disampaikan kepada bakal presiden Barrack Hussien Obama yang akan menerajui USA pada 20 januari ini. Suara yang inginkan keamanan yang merujuk kepada hak asasi manusia.

Bukan sekadar demotrasi dan wang diperlukan oleh saudara kita di Palestin, tetapi yang paling penting doa kita semua, atau sebalikya. Buatlah Qiamulalail secara berkumpulan (seperti IOC lakukan malam tadi) @ secara bersendirian, yang mana lebih baik bagi pandangan kamu. Nilai ia bukan untuk nilaian sesiapa, tetapi tanda sayang kepada saudara seagama kita.

Hentikan apa yang berlaku di Gaza! Selamatkan Palestin!
